OH for the mountain air - take me to Gruyere

Nancy from newly opened vintage Etsy store BrockiStop drops a few hints on a great place to visit next time you're headed for the hills in Switzerland.

Gruyere (shown above) is a quintessential Swiss town with a fairytale castle to tour, boasting stunning views of the Alps from it's rooms.

You can eat great fondu sitting outside on the age old cobbled streets followed by fresh raspberries and cream (a beautiful colour combination!).

Nancy's home town of Krauchthal is a small village in a long valley surrounded by sandstone cliffs and rolling hills. There are many sheep, a prison in an old castle on a cliff over the town and a clever house that was built into the face of one of the cliffs. It's also very close to the capital city Bern. You can live in the countryside and be in the city in 15 minutes.

Shown clockwise from left: a view of the Alps from the castle at Gruyere, the majestic Swiss Alps from a town close to Bern, Krauchthal Town in autumn and a brightly coloured Rapeseed field in full flower.

Nancy's impressions of the colours of Switzerland are GREEN for the beautiful green farmland that keeps it's colour even in winter thanks to winter wheat. YELLOW for the rapeseed fields in spring that turn the landscape into patchwork and WHITE and PALE BLUE for the Alps that always seem like a dream on the horizon.

Her feelings for these colours show in selection of vintage items Nancy has chosen for her shop BrockiStop which just opened in November.

Here's a sampling...
